KUAKATA

‘Kua’ means well/Noun & ‘kata’ means digging,”KUAKATA” means digging well. About 450 years ago Arakan Tribals (Maynmer) started migration at costrel of bay of bengle, thus they begun livelihood at southern part of bangladesh. For their drinking water source they started digging well, from then locally kuakata named village comes to our map. Now kuakata is the Municipality of District Potuakhali.  

Kuakata, the rear scenic beauty on the southeastern coast, a Municipality of Bangladesh about 70 KM distant from district headquarters of Patuakhali.  It has a wide sandy beach from where anyone can get the unique opportunity to enjoy both the Sunrise and Sunset.  This sandy beach has gentle gradient into the Bay of Bengal.  Kuakata is a virgin beach a sanctuary for migratory winter birds, a series of coconut trees, sandy beach of blue bay, a feast for the eye.

Tengragiri Forest the Eastern part of Sundarban locally named FATRER CHOR, is co-existed to the western side of Kuakata.  Forest, fishing, towering cliffs, surfing waves touches visitor's heart.  The unique custom and costumes of the famous "Rakhaine" tribal families and Buddhist temple of about 200 years of old indicates ancient tradition and cultural heritage which are the object of great pleasure. Kuakata is famous for pilgrimage of Hindu and Buddhist community. Innumerable devotes arrives here at the festival of Maghi Purnima (full moon) and Rush Purnima. So it is the best tourism spot of Bangladesh by the mixer of Sundarban, Bay Bengal, Natural Beauty & local tribal culture.
